Explanation (?):

The remote access auto connection manager service provides the ability to connect to a dial-up networking (DUN) or virtual private network (VPN) when no other network connection is available. When a computer attempts to resolve DNS or NetBIOS names and is unsuccessful in the transmission of the data to a remote computer, typically because the computer has no assigned network address, then this service is used. At this point the computer will ask the user if they wish to connect to an available DUN or VPN account, if any are available. Additionally, this service remembers which connections are used to connect to which resources, so it makes it simplier on the user once it has been originally setup. If this service is disabled then this connection feature won't be present, and if it is set to manual then it will only start when no other connection is available and a network request is made. I suggest that you leave it set to manual.
